What is self-care? It is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health, happiness, and well-being. Since COVID hit last year, I've continued regular exercise and healthy eating, but other forms of self-care like stress management and relaxation have taken a backseat. It is hard to dedicate time to yourself when others need and demand this time too.
What do you like to do for self-care? Here is a list of ideas:
Running
Yoga
Dance
Any other exercise you enjoy
Hot baths
Home spa treatments
Getting a massage
Watching your favorite TV show/Movie
Reading
Self Development activities
Spending extra time getting yourself ready for the day
Hiking
Spending time observing nature
A leisurely walk (gives you time to think, reflect)
Spending time with loved ones
Calling a friend or family member that uplifts you
Cooking a healthy meal
Meal planning, ordering healthy groceries for the next week
Just remember that if you don't keep your own light shining within, you won't have any light to share with others. So really self-care isn't selfish. You are taking care of yourself first, so that you are physically, mentally, and emotionally able to care for others as the best version of yourself.
